Kigali Cable Car: A New Sky Ride Coming to Rwanda

Kigali Cable Car: A New Sky Ride Coming to Rwanda

Kigali Cable Car is a new sky ride project in Rwanda. This cable car will help people travel fast, reduce traffic, and give visitors an amazing city view. It is a modern transport project that supports green travel and makes Kigali even more beautiful.

Kigali Cable Car Project in Rwanda

Kigali, the capital of Rwanda, is growing fast. Many people and cars use the roads every day. This makes traffic slow and stressful. To solve this problem, Rwanda is planning a new Kigali Cable Car project. The cable car will move people high in the sky, above the busy streets. This sky ride will make travel faster, greener, and more fun.

What is the Kigali Cable Car?

The Kigali Cable Car is like a sky train. Small cars hang on strong cables and move people from one place to another. The plan is to build a 5.5 km line in the city. The first route will connect Nyabugogo, the city center, the Kigali Convention Centre, and the new Sports City.

Why is the Kigali Cable Car Important for Rwanda?

The cable car will help solve traffic problems. Many cars on the road make Kigali slow and full of smoke. The cable car will:

  • Save time by moving above traffic.
  • Carry more than 50,000 people every day.
  • Be safe and friendly for children, women, and people with disabilities.
  • Reduce pollution and protect the environment.

Cable Car Success in Other Cities

Other countries already use cable cars. For example, La Paz in Bolivia has one of the biggest cable car systems in the world. It carries thousands of people every day and helps reduce traffic and pollution. Kigali can learn from these cities and make the Kigali Cable Car project a success too.

When Will the Kigali Cable Car Start?

The project is now in the study stage. Experts are planning how to build it. The African Development Bank has already given $500,000 to support the project. If all goes well, construction could start in 2026, and the first rides could begin in 2028.
